THE SPECTACLES ROCK RONNY’S ON APRIL 12; FAKE FICTIONS ON HAND TO SIGN BODY PARTS

Comptroller Records will be celebrating its six-month anniversary at Ronny’s, 2101 N. California, on Saturday, April 12. The concert, the third in a bi-monthly series entitled Comptrollin’ On A Saturday Night, will feature pop wizards the Spectacles, OFFICE member and ace songwriter Justin Petertil, and D.C. hip-hoppers Mathpanda. Eric Ziegenhagen, a.k.a. ‘the Supreme Hot Dog,’ will emcee the affair. Members of the Fake Fictions, who will be debuting their second full-length, Krakatoa, at a Friday, April 18 record-release show at the Empty Bottle, will be on hand to sign body parts.

The evening will kick off with Justin Petertil, performing his smooth jams with the old Ice Factory house band. Petertil, who plays in the local bands OFFICE and Roommate, used to front the beloved band CrapEngine.

Next up is Comptroller Records’ own the Spectacles, led by former Nueva Cat Jody Weinmann. The Spectacles bring the heat, a la bubbling keyboards, syncopated afro-beats, and spare lyrics that ache with wit and painful adolescence. Several songs, including the recently completed sex-jam “Living Room,” are available at MySpace.com/ThSpectacles.

Bringing it all home will be D.C. hip-hop act Mathpanda, who offer a merciless assault on the political leaders and dancefloors of our country, right from the belly of the beast.

‘The SupremeHot Dog’ will perform songs and share charming anecdotes between the acts.

The Fake Fictons will be on hand to tell bad jokes at the merch table and sign body parts. Their latest LP, the noisy and wonderful Krakatoa, will be released on April 18, when they will be performing at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western. Five songs, including the epic and audacious “(I Cannot Get Any) Satisfaction,” are streaming exclusively on the Comptroller Records website, ComptrollerRecords.com.

Comptrollin’ On A Saturday Night is Comptroller Records’ bi-monthly concert series. On the second Saturday of every second month, a Comptroller Records act shares a Chicago stage with some of our favorite bands and artists from Chicago and around the country. Future Comptrollin’ On A Saturday Night locations and line-ups can be monitored on ComptrollerRecords.com.
